Over three decades in the industry and still growing strong.

This woman’s month, we pan across the global challenge of turning the wheels of change to see more black woman play lead in the industry. How does being black and woman affect one’s experience as an actor? More so, as an actor whose career span outlives our young democracy? We sit with acclaimed actors: Nthati Moshesh and Pamela Nomvete to reflect on over three-decades spent in the industry, moving between Stage, Film, and Television. We find out from these living legends how they’ve managed to sustain their careers, adapting to the ever-changing nature of the industry while remaining true to their craft.

Pamela Nompumelelo Nomvete is dressed for the winter chills and is trying her best to keep her flu at bay, sipping on lemon and ginger tea at our offices, in an intimate boardroom furnished with a round veneer table and just enough room to steer intimate conversations. “Acting is my sense of power”. With boastful laughter, Nthati Moshesh has an epiphany, she shares a reflection on how acting has always been a powerful tool for her.
