Pheto is nominated in the category for Best Supporting Actress for the film ‘A United Kingdom.

The movie was founded on the book Colour Bar: A controversial, biographical story of Seretse Khama; The first president of Botswana (then Bechuanaland) who changed the course of history by marrying Ruth Williams; a Caucasian woman he met in while in London The interracial marriage caused quite a stir and was met with much disapproval from the neighboring Apartheid Government in South Africa, who then put pressure on Britain to remove Khama from his Chieftainship.

Terry Pheto plays the role of Naledi Khama; sister to Seretsi Khama. She is nominated against Gemma Arerton (The Girl With All The Gifts); Shana Swash (My Feral Heart) ;Naomi Harris(Our Kind Of Traitor) and Avin Manshadi (Under The Shadow) The Britain Independent Film awards highlight and reward the best and most innovative independent films. May its 19th season see Terry bring this award home.
