In our Women’s Month Issue this August, we point the lens at two dynamic women who are carving their own paths in the South African Theatre and Television industry, we zoom into the South African Theatre spectrum with the recipient of the 4th annual Sophie Mgcina award; Lesedi Job, as she reflects on her life as an actress turned director and some of her best career highlights, while Makgotso M shares her industry battles and the plight of being an actress who made it too soon.
I am the audience today, probing and listening to their stories, although their paths are different, both ladies share a similar foundation, having acquired degrees in the field of Drama and Film. We zoom in on their journeys.

Lesedi Job was an over-achiever and excelled in Drama and Music in high school, she received provisional colours for public-speaking at Red Hill High but when the penny dropped and the time came for her to pick a career path, she chose journalism. “It was the closest thing to public speaking” she says.
