Boet & Sus is an Afrikaans multimedia theatre production that highlights the kallids (coloureds’) experience in contemporary Namibia. A part talk show, part drag show, Boet & Sus explores the highs and lows of feeling somewhere in the ‘middle’. This is a theatre production about community, escapism, & expression.
The multimedia theatre production- streaming 01-28 February 2021, is written & directed by award-winning theatre-maker Lize Ehlers who also plays the lead role of Sus.
Additional cast members include local and international award-winning actor Adriano Visagie in the co-lead role of Boet. Rodelio Lewis and Roberto Meneguzzo portray the roles of drag queens Mavis and Gigi respectively. Creative team includes Marchell Linus as choreographer, Martin Amushendje with video documentation support, make up by Miss Jey Arts, costumes by Ingo Shanyenge, music support by Imms Nicolau, stage management by Zindri Swartz, and production design and video production by Lila Swanepoel.
The production offers critical perspectives on Namibian identity matters coupled with comedic relief, music and drag performance.
