The Rebound, a BlackChild Films Production, is Vuyani Bila’s first feature film and he is excited for what this could mean for the filmmaking industry in Pretoria, and the country at large.
“This movie is a first of its kind because Pretoria has never been captured in this light. We made use of the city’s most iconic hotspots in the stylistic musings of Sex and The City and Seriously Single and our cast delivered some of the best screen performances, even if I say so myself,” said Bila.
The story is set in the capital City of Tshwane and tells the story of Bontle (Nkosi), an ambitious and aspiring fashion designer, whose luxurious life falls apart when she learns that her affluent boyfriend (Mantsai) is married. This is until she meets her rebound, Tshepo (Mohlala), and realizes that love is often hidden in places you never knew existed. This film is an interesting comedic spin on contemporary relationship struggles around what social media has now coined as “mjolo the pandemic”.
Bongile Mantsai and Sthandile Nkosi are set to lead in a romantic comedy about love in the city of Pitori. The cast also boasts the likes of Thembi Mtshali-Jones, Mandla Gaduka, Pholoso Mohlala and Lerato Walaza.
The Rebound is currently in production and is set to hit big screens in 2022
