7de Laan, one of SABC 2’s longest running soapies will celebrate its 22nd birthday on 4 April 2022.
7de Laan is currently in its 23rd season and is one of South Africa’s number one Afrikaans soapies by viewership. The show continues to entertain viewers, catalysing conversation and tolerance around important social issues.
“As society still deeply depends on television for entertainment, news, education, culture and the likes, we’re humbled to still find a space in which we can tell important stories that viewers are excited to watch and engage with, especially when they have a plethora of content to choose from” says Thandi Ramathesele- Executive Producer of 7de Laan.
7de Laan has certainly come a long way from its largely studio-based shoots to now include frequent location shoots and dialogue from places and cities in and around South Africa. It is reflective of communities across South Africa, which many can identify with.
Every season has its highlights, be it new love, a death, a wedding or simply just finding a place to belong in Hillside. 7de Laan will continue finding new ways of telling these exhilarating stories that has kept viewers emotionally invested and engaged for the last 22 years.
